Griffin Marsh is a roughly 12-acre parcel that is bound on the east by Holcomb St. and on the west by Ezekiel Way, a private road off of Holcomb near the intersection of Route 20. Safe access to the site is a grassy area immediately on the right of Ezekiel Way. The land trust’s access is a three-foot easement that runs along the stone wall parallel to Holcomb St. The easement and paths into the property are maintained by seasonal mowing. There are two short trails into the property, one that runs parallel to Ezekiel Way within the property’s boundaries, and one on the east side of the property parallel to Holcomb St. The main feature of this property is the marsh/pond that is within the Salmon Brook watershed. Water coming into the marsh from the north flows south through an outlet pipe on the property and on to the pond at Cedar Rock Farms. The open water portion of the marsh is at the southern end of the property. EGLT built a memorial bench at the end of the pond to honor late board member Andy Watterlond. The property is very flat and the paths around the pond are dry with a few wet patches in the spring. Red-wing blackbirds and swallows are regular visitors to the marsh and can be heard in the reeds out in the open water.
